🌿 Mindful Monday: The Power of Stepping Away

This morning’s reset didn’t happen behind a desk or with a to-do list. Instead, it was a couple of hours walking in the woods on my friends' property at the top of a mountain in Northfield, Vermont.

A few hours to get out of my head and deep in the woods—where the forest floor was blanketed in wild ferns, bursts of colorful mushrooms peeked through the underbrush, and yes, even a reminder that bears roam these hills (thankfully just the scat, no actual bears).

As a consultant who works with law firms on everything from operations to strategy—and with decades of experience working in-house in firms of all sizes—I know how easy it is to stay in “go mode.” But I’m reminded again and again: stepping away isn’t a luxury—it’s necessary. It’s where clarity lives. It’s where creativity resurfaces. And it’s where I’m able to return to my work with fresh perspective and renewed purpose.

Whether you're leading a firm, supporting clients, or building a brand—give yourself permission to pause. Even a few hours can change your entire week.

Need help finding clarity in your law firm’s strategy or operations? Let’s talk. Sometimes the first step forward starts with a deep breath out.
